Damaging your hair is easy which means repairing your hair has to be hard right? Well, given some time and the proper products, it can actually be pretty easy. The summer season filled with heat and humidity, and coupled with schedules filled with fun activities, it’s easy to neglect our hair care regimens. Now that back to school is around the corner, you might want to give your hair a little TLC for all those selfies you’ll be taking in class to post on Facebook and Instagram, and who could forget the ever-important yearbook photo?! Here’s our advice to help you repair the damage just in the nick of time.
Post Conditioning. After washing your hair with a sulfate-free shampoo, use an ultra-hydrating conditioner. Apply a plant-derived moisturizing conditioner like our KeraExtend™ Conditioner (which also contains keratin to repair your hair). Coat your ends and apply heat with a blow dryer. The heat makes the conditioner able to penetrate hair for a deeper condition. We recommend doing this at least once a week, but no more than three times per week.
Treatment Masks. Our KeraExtend™ Mask is a great product that contains special ingredients to help your ends look and feel better. Stay away from any products that have silicone, as they can sometimes do more harm than good to your hair extensions. Another stylist favorite is Joico’s K-Pak Intense Hydrator because the shea butter provides elasticity for dry hair. It also creates a polished surface.
Shine. Hair oil is damaged hair’s best friend. We’d recommend our Donna Bella Argan Oil, which is a non-greasy conditioning oil that softens and shines hair. When choosing an oil, make sure it contains Argan oil, vitamin E, avocado oil, or a protective, antioxidant-rich grape seed oil. These kinds of ingredients repair the dryest of strands while smoothing them out and adding shine. They also help fight frizz and flyaways.
