Kera-Link hair extensions (also known as Fusion) are a well-loved method because of how adaptable they are in solving different hair challenges. Here are some things to keep in mind.

Why Kera-Link is one of the most popular methods

- The extensions are made with 100% Remy Human Hair.

- They can be worn for 12-16 weeks before a move-up.

- Kera-Links are available in straight, wavy and curly textures.

- They are fully customizable and can be cut down to micro bonds for special placement and a seamless blend.

- They provide a great solution for thinning hair and hair loss.

- Kera-Link are durable and long lasting, lightweight, and comfortable to wear.

- The small bond attachment points allow for styling versatility and 360-degree movement.

Installing Kera-Link Correctly

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about Kera-Link hair extensions.

How much hair should be used for each attachment point?

When installing Kera-Link extensions, you want to use the same density and thickness as the extension. This will help preserve the integrity of the hair.

I have thinning hair. Can I use Kera-Link?

Yes, absolutely! They are great because they can be cut into smaller extension pieces and applied to a smaller area. This method is called micro bonding.

If I cut the Kera-Links for micro bonds, how small can I go?

You can cut the regular bonds into half size, quarter size, or even down to a few strands. Want to learn more? Watch this video on how to cut Kera-Link extensions. Or, shop for Keratin Bond Cutters so you have this handy tool ready to go.

Why cut down the bonds?

You can place them higher and still have them be undetectable. Micro bonds are ideal for placement above the crown, near the hairline, in the bangs or on the sides.

Can Kera-Link be used on textured hair?

Yes! We offer Kera-Link in curly, wavy and straight textures with 20+ colors available. Because of the strand-by-strand application, Kera-Link extensions are highly customizable. Our stylists love the way Kera-Link extensions offer the option to install strands higher on the head for a seamless blend. This is ideal for anyone that may have a heavier weight line that needs to be broken up, which can be common for those with textured hair.

How long does installation take? How much hair do I need?

Kera-Links usually take 2-3 hours. We recommend:

4-5 packs – for fine hair

5-7 packs – for medium hair

7+ packs – for thick hair

How long do they last? Can I re-use the hair more than once?

Kera-Links last 12-16 weeks. With proper maintenance, they can be used 1-3 times by replacing the keratin bonds. Troubleshooting with Kera-Link Extensions

Are you experiencing an issue with your hair? Here are some common scenarios and why they may be happening.

Scenario 1: Tangling or scalp irritation

Some possible causes include:

- Bonds are too close to the head, causing the natural hair to be pulled.

- The sections are not cleanly parted and straight, causing tension with the small hair strands.

- Not shampooing the scalp and extensions well enough is creating build up.

- Not brushing enough or not brushing between the rows of the Kera-Links to brush out the natural shedding could be causing tangling.

- Sleeping with wet hair can cause the hair to get matted and tangled.

Work with your stylist. Talk about your maintenance and aftercare habits and if there’s anything you need to adjust in the way you take care of your hair.

Also, remember that your Kera-Links are installed securely. You can wash and brush them, and don’t be afraid to get in between the rows to remove any tangling.

Scenario 2: Extensions are slipping

Possible causes:

- The Melting Connector heat may have been too low during installation.

- The heat may not have been applied for long enough allowing the Kera-Link to be fully workable for the sealing process.

- Bonds may not have been properly sealed all the way around the section of natural hair.

- Too much or too little hair may have been used in the section of natural hair.

- Applying heat directly to the attachment points may reheat the keratin bonds and cause premature slippage.

- If you're using conditioner on the roots instead of midshaft down, it can cause slippage.

- If you're using a product on the bonds that has a high alcohol content it may be causing the bonds to break down.
