We Love Waterfalls, Just Not On Extensions…
Posted by Donna Bella on
I-Links are a wonderful method for those that prefer not having anything attached to their natural hair with adhesive. They’re also extremely versatile and easy to hide—if installed properly. Scanning through our social media, we have found some “waterfalls” with I-Link, also known as improper installation by crimping down on the bead while the strand of natural hair is held up high and placing it too close to the scalp, making it look like a waterfall. “Waterfall” (pictured below) does not only look terrible, it is extremely painful for your client. Notice how the beads are way too close to...
I Fried my Client’s Hair with Bleach, Help Me Fix It Donna Bella!
Posted by Donna Bella on
This is by far one of the worst feelings not only for the client, but for the stylist as well. No matter how bad the damage is, no one likes to say g’bye to inches of hair. Being the one responsible for that damage can lead to losing a great client and damaging your reputation as a stylist (on top of feeling extremely guilty for the mishap). But there is a little bit of hope: it might not seem like it, but hair extensions can help rectify the situation so your client can feel better and help you save your...
Donna Bella Tape-In Hair Extensions: The Consultation
Posted by Donna Bella on
Consultations are always the best part of the hair extension business. You get to meet different clients who come from different walks of life. For some, hair extensions are simply a luxury they enjoy, while for others, it’s a lifestyle they can’t do without. The consultation is also the most important piece of their experience. Because of how much time and money they are putting into the process, hair extensions are an investment for them, so they expect you to work a miracle even though sometimes it cannot be done. To make sure your consultation goes well for you and...
Beautiful Shiny Hair Becomes a Dry Tangled Mess. Why?
Posted by Donna Bella on
Another common concern we receive from new stylists making the switch from other hair extension companies to Donna Bella is, “when I buy hair from other companies, the extensions are so smooth and silky when pulled out of the package, but then after a few washes, the hair becomes a dry, tangled mess.” Here’s why that happens: A little manufacturing trick that has become very popular within the last 5 years is what we call “coating” or “dipping”. After the human hair has been hackled and sorted, it then moves onto the coloring process. After the hair has dried, some...
